Why We Support John

During the twelve years I served in the Legislature with State Representative John Kowalko, I have found him to be the conscience of the General Assembly. He has also been the moral compass of our Democratic Caucus. When there was any question about the proper legislative direction, John has always pointed to what is best for the citizens of Delaware. He deserves to be re-elected.

– James “J.J.” Johnson, 16th District State Representative

I have known Rep. John Kowalko for over a decade and have served with him in the Delaware Legislature for six years. John is one of the most passionate legislators we have in Dover. He has one over-arching focus—improving the lives of working class Delaware residents. This umbrella includes tireless work on economic justice, including championing limits on utility rate increases, fairness in public school funding, and equitable income tax policy. This also includes his work on environmental justice, for clean air, land, and water. John has never shied away from power in advocating for the rights of the working class, whether he is promoting strong unions to protect workers or limiting corporate giveaways and corporate welfare. Rep John Kowalko always has, and always will, put working people first. I am proud to call him my colleague and my friend. The residents of the 25th District are fortunate to have John Kowalko serving them, and I encourage them to re-elect John on November 6th.

– Paul Baumbach, 23rd District State Representative

John has a proven track record supporting the residents of his district and not bowing to the pressure of special interest groups. He has demonstrated this resident-focused approach time and time again—when he stood by neighbors opposed to a power plant in their backyard and even more recently when he supported residents concerned with over-development and stormwater along West Chestnut Hill Road. I am thrilled that John is running for re-election as he is a committed, responsive, trustworthy, and extremely knowledgeable public servant. We are lucky to have an elected official as principled and honorable as John Kowalko representing our interests.

– Jen Wallace, 3rd District Newark City Council

I’ve gotten to know John over the past several years, and found that he consistently puts the interests of local residents and their quality of life in front of those of outside special interests. John regularly attends and participates in neighborhood meetings to understand people’s concerns. John encourages people to be active and engaged and believes elected representatives such as himself have a duty to listen to and respond to residents’ voices. He has consistently been honest, transparent and willing to listen, and has provided valuable feedback that has helped me in my efforts to represent my constituents in District 4. Please join me in supporting John Kowalko on November 6th.

– Chris Hamilton, 4th District Newark City Council
