Candidate forum: Wednesday, 6:45 p.m., at McVey Elementary School, 908 Janice Drive. The Robscott Manor Civic Association will host a forum with several candidates for local, state and federal office. Confirmed attendees include Stephanie Hansen, Christine Metzing, John Kowalko, Bryan Rash, Kathleen Jennings, Bernard Pepukayi, Robert Arlett, Nadine Frost, Demitri Theodoropoulos and James Spadola.
Giant yard sale: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Aetna Fire Hall, 400 Ogletown Road. Annual event raises money for Tri-State Bird Rescue.
Main Street Mile: Saturday, 9 a.m., on Main Street. Annual 1-mile race down Main Street raises money for the Newark Police Department K-9 unit. Registration $30 at www.fusionracetiming.com.
Mayor’s Harvest Festival: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Olan Thomas Park, 89 Paper Mill Road. The Newark Parks and Recreation Department will host a day of fall fun with pony rides, hayrides, games, crafts, local food vendors, inflatables and more. Rain date is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Grainfest: Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen, 270 E. Main St. Bands will perform, and 20 craft breweries will serve beer. Food trucks will be available. $15.
City council meeting: Monday, 7 p.m., at city hall, 220 S. Main St. Council will vote on the proposed lodging tax and a proposal to annex two properties in Covered Bridge Farms.
Naloxone training session: Tuesday, 6 p.m., at Newark Senior Center, 200 Whitechapel Drive. Learn about naloxone, how to administer the medicine and how to help someone who is struggling with an opioid addiction. Free.
