RISE Delaware Rally at Legislative Hall in Dover on October 12 to Oppose Privatization of Delaware State Retirees’ Medicare
RISE Delaware will hold a rally on the steps of Legislative Hall in Dover on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, from noon to 1 p.m. We will be inviting all supportive legislators to join us on the steps of Legislative Hall. Please join us wearing blue shirts and bring your signs!
We will be rallying to demand that the State of Delaware stop the proposed plan to privatize state retirees’ health benefits through a Medicare Advantage plan with Highmark Delaware. State workers should not be forced to have their health care benefits and access to doctors and treatments limited by a private, for-profit company. The proposed mandate by the State Employees Benefits Committee (SEBC) will limit healthcare choices for retirees by supplanting the traditional Medicare plans and benefits that they have earned and paid for throughout their working lives.
RISE Delaware was formed to assist Delaware’s state retirees in their fight against privatization of their Medicare benefits. Last month, we filed a lawsuit in Superior Court to stop the State of Delaware from imposing Highmark’s Medicare Advantage plan as their only option to receive their state health care benefits.
